There are times that we remember the position the world has for us.
The position that the world deems us to be in.
The forced posture, the sucked in waist, the hatred, the vitriol.
The fear.
Again and again.
Day after day.
Night after night.
Walking faster. Changing shoes. Planning outfits, routes, defences, to be safe.
When we raise our voices, we are told be quiet
Stop talking
It’s not all men
When we cry, we’re too emotional.
When we scream, we’re too angry.
When we rally, we’re too bossy.
There are times that we remember the position the world has for us, women.
And on those times, remember you can push back and say not today.
Today, the world changes. It must. It has to.
Stare back at the world as it clamours at you to go back into the position it put you in and say:
Not today. Not ever again.
