Teacup Story – Language

To think that language is just a form of communication is to not understand what communication is about.

It’s the sharing of ideas, of stories and thoughts. It’s a history unto itself, a place where you can learn about the world that came before from the people who experienced it. Or people like you who learnt about it.

It’s a connection to another world, a world of culture and history that you cannot otherwise access. Sure, you can translate it, but translation however accurate is not the same. It’s not the same idioms or metaphors. It’s not the same meaning necessarily.

It’s another way to live, to engage with the world, to see existence.
