Rachel was soaked through. Every single item of clothing she had was wet. Her hair clung to her face like a mop, her skin felt shrivelled, and her toes cold.
She hated missing the bus. She hated it even more when the weather was as miserable as it was today. She hated carrying the shopping in the rain, she hated it when she wasted an entire afternoon on the weekly shopping run.
She turned down her street, fixing her building in her sights. The streets were deserted, the tourists retreating into cafes and bars for safety from the rain.
Rachel smiled as she looked upwards to where her flat was on the 32nd floor. A nice cup of tea and a biscuit would do. Followed by a warm shower.
God, she hated the rain.
