Teacup Story – Walking Forwards

Walking Forwards – Sometimes it is so hard to put one foot in front of the other (Genre – General, Genre – Rating 12)

It is so hard to just try.

Not even succeed, or do well at, or achieve.

Just to try.

Putting one foot in front of the other on a journey you haven’t quite worked out yet, weighed down by problems of years gone by that you can’t seem to shift.

One foot, then another.

The road might be dusty. Sun beating down on your sweaty, red raw neck. Your throat might be parched and dry, and yet you struggle to put one foot in front of the other?

Because when you stop, you will fall. And when you fall, it will be even harder to get up.

And when it is hard to get up, it is easy to just stay down. With the weight of your past on your shoulders and the sun beating down from overhead, it is easy to just lie there and stop.

Stop trying. Stop walking forward.

Maybe, there is even some part of you that wants to stop breathing.

And so you try. You put one foot in front of the other.

Again and again, and again.

You walk because you must, to a destination you don’t even believe is real. You hope it is there, but in the same way that you hope for fairy tales to become real. It is a childish hope, a forlorn hope, a hopeless hope.

But yet you try. You try for that hope. You try for that destination.

And so you keep walking forward.
